Mr. Ebu & Arne Wiese - Dream Induction

Mr. Ebu's notes:

My thoughts about our song is: the speech sequences come and go in a good context to my beat-impulses which also come and go. A dream induction as itself can also be made in impulses, or in repetitions (déjà-vus) or in spoken words in the sound and with noises of a dictaphone.

Now about my technical part: I triggered my old synth "Teisco 110f" with an acoustic-guitar, while playing the steel-strings and tapping the keys to the same time. I made a recording of about six minutes and then chose around 2:50 mins out of this. The result had too much background-noise which I de-hissed with my good, good Groove Mechanic software. Then I used several effects, and one of them gave these slightly beat-impulses into my basic track. Finally I filled it all up with some additional sounds. Then I mastered it as best as possible and was quite happy, that Per-Arne liked the result and could use it for his completion :)

In the early morning of July the 13th Carsten sent me a track which I listened to once before going to bed. As I later awoke I wrote down the following dream:

"I awoke early this morning to find a milky white mist enveloping this house. And I knew it was going to be a humid day.

"The night before I dreamt of a secret place. It was the loft of my father's old workshop. In reality small and humble, my dreaming self found it as spacious as a giant's hall.

"Its wood chip covered floor had been populated with rows of carnival stalls displaying all matter of things: toys, electronic gadgets and other things. Things that I had once owned but since lost.

"I continued walking down one the many aisles, awestruck by the wonderland I had discovered. Thinking: I thought all of this was lost, yet here it is. It was right here, so close, all these years.

"Occasionally I noticed other visitors but paid them little attention. I didn't feel that they were intruding upon a personal paradise. They were much like me finding their own lost selves.

"Eventually I reached a dead end and before me was the very first computer my father owned. It was nicely seated on a high table with flashy cardboard signs around it exclaiming its qualities, as if brand new, ready to be purchased and taken home.

"Returning to reality is always bitter for me after having such vivid nocturnal experiences. Daytime always pales in comparison.

"And as I suspected, the rest of the day turned out to be really muggy; a day which seemed to linger on forever."

Recorded on a cheap portable compact cassette recorder. Edited using Audacity. Mixed with the Zoom R8 eight-track recorder.
